New deal for Pettini

11:53am Thursday 22nd July 2010

CRICKET: Mark Pettini has signed a contract extension with Essex.

Pettini, who was recently replaced as captain by James Foster, now has a deal until the end of the 2012 season.

And he is thrilled to have committed his future to the club.

“I am obviously delighted to have signed an extension,” said Pettini, who made his first team debut for Essex in 2001. I have thoroughly enjoyed my time so far with Essex and the success that we have all achieved.

“I look forward to the next two years. We have a very strong dressing room and we are confident that we can achieve even more success in the coming seasons.”

* Tom Westley, Billy Godleman and Grant Flower have all been severely reprimanded and fined by the club for breaches of discipline. The trio have all been punished for acts of petulance following their dismissals in recent matches.
